In the Wild with Greg Wagner

I have some important information for those of you who like to go boating on Carter Lake in northeast Omaha.

Here’s the scenario. Twelve no-wake buoys have been installed in the east arm of the lake. Boaters are required to slow to a 5 m.p.h., no-wake speed in the east arm. Four buoys mark the start of the no-wake zone and the remaining buoys line the channel to the island. If you’re wondering, the no-wake area is about 100 acres of the 322-acre lake.

The no-wake zone was established to help in meeting specific water quality standards for the lake restoration process.

Law enforcement officials from both Nebraska and Iowa will enforce the no-wake zones. They’ll appreciate your cooperation and see you out there!

Wow.. another fishing lake! Just remember that Desoto Bend once allowed boating as only half of that lake was set up with a No Wake Zone too. Then it was decided the entire lake ‘needed’ to be No Wake.
