In the Wild with Greg Wagner

I don’t know about you, but, as a spring wild turkey hunter, I cannot wait for those toms to start fighting, strutting and REALLY gobbling! Gil-obble – obble – obble! So, with turkey on the brain, I thought it would be important to pass along to you what’s new for the 2010 Nebraska Spring Wild Turkey Hunting Seasons. Briefly, these are the changes for you to note:

– Youth permits for kids 15 and under are available for residents and nonresidents at $5 each.

– There is now one permit for spring wild turkey hunting in Nebraska, which is valid for both shotgun and archery during designated season dates with the legal weapon in hand. When the seasons run concurrently, a turkey hunter can carry both weapons.

– Restrictions on the draw weight of archery equipment have been lifted.

– Limited Landowner permit eligibility requirements have been loosened.

Opening dates for the various spring turkey seasons are as follows: Archery – March 25th, Youth – April 10th and Shotgun – April 17th.

See you out there, with a young hunter in the woods!

My young son Noah Wagner poses with the gobbler he harvested last spring. He can hardly wait for the youth opener on April 10th!
