In the Wild with Greg Wagner

PLAN YOUR FLOAT TRIP by Nebraska Game and Parks Commission

Whether it’s by canoe, kayak, inner tube, stock tank or even a raft on the Niobrara, now’s the time to plan a summer float trip with outfitters on our fine rivers here in the Husker State. It’s especially important to do this if you want to secure a prime weekend in the summer and/or if you have a larger group that wants go. Here’s a link for Nebraska canoe trails and to find outfitters: http://www.ngpc.state.ne.us/boating/guides/canoetrails/

Okay, for those of you new to the Nebraska outdoor scene, there’s truly a river tailor-made for just about everyone to explore here. Take a look below. We have the extreme sport challenge and beautiful remoteness of the Dismal River near Mullen.

We have the quiet charm of an old-fashioned inner tube float with the kids and on quiet rivers like the North Loup River near Burwell.

And, let us not forget about taking a float trip on the popular Niobrara River near Valentine which is ranked by Backpacker Magazine as one of the “Top Ten Canoeing Rivers in the Nation.” A summer weekday float trip on the busy Niobrara River would be strongly suggested.

See you out there on a Nebraska river with your family this summer!
